Signature Dining launches “Great British Pub Local” dining concept for care homes
Signature Dining has launched a new pub-themed dining and events concept for care homes across the UK, designed to bring a slice of traditional British pub culture to residents through familiar dishes, themed occasions, and a more social mealtime experience.
Titled “The Great British Pub Local”, the concept is intended to recreate the comfort and togetherness associated with a classic local pub — not simply through menu choices, but through programmed events that encourage residents to come together, share conversation and enjoy recognisable favourites in a relaxed setting.
Pub classics with lighter options
At the heart of the programme is a menu built around well-known pub staples, including beer battered fish and chips, bangers and mash, steak and ale pie, and toad in the hole. Desserts follow the same nostalgic theme, with options such as bread and butter pudding, spotted dick with custard, and black forest gâteau.
Alongside the traditional favourites, the offer also includes lighter bites such as BLTs, club sandwiches, and fish finger sandwiches, giving care teams greater flexibility for different appetites and preferences.
A rotating calendar of themed events
In addition to the menu, participating homes will be able to deliver a rotating schedule of pub-themed events. These include a carvery-style “Sunday at the Inn”, and alcohol-free “pie and pint” nights, offering a sociable, inclusive format suited to the care home environment.
To support delivery at site level, participating care homes will receive recipe cards and staff training support, aimed at ensuring consistency and helping teams stage each Pub Local event with confidence.
Focus on familiarity, comfort and social connection
Paul Robottom, founder and director of Signature Dining, said the aim is to recreate a widely recognised part of British life for residents who may value routine, familiarity and shared moments around food.
The concept is being introduced across selected care homes in early 2026, with a full rollout planned later this year.
