Dave’s Hot Chicken Accelerates UK Rollout as Nashville-Style QSR Gains Momentum

Dave’s Hot Chicken continues to build momentum across the UK quick-service restaurant (QSR) market as the fast-growing fried chicken brand expands its national footprint and prepares for further rollout.

The California-founded concept made its UK debut on Shaftesbury Avenue, London, in December 2024, quickly attracting sustained customer queues and strong early trading performance. The site gained rapid visibility through social media, driven in part by the brand’s viral ultra-hot chicken challenge, which requires customers to sign a waiver before ordering its highest spice level.

Following the London launch, Dave’s Hot Chicken expanded into Birmingham and Manchester, with further openings in Stevenage and Croydon, signalling confidence in regional city centres and high-footfall suburban locations. A new Bristol site forms part of the next phase of development as the brand targets broader national coverage.

UK and European growth is being led by Azzurri Group, the hospitality operator behind Zizzi, ASK Italian and Coco di Mama. Azzurri holds exclusive development rights for Dave’s Hot Chicken across Europe and has outlined plans to open at least 60 locations across the UK, positioning the brand as a major challenger within the premium fried chicken segment.

Dave’s menu centres on Nashville-style hot chicken tenders and sliders, offered across multiple heat levels, alongside sides including mac & cheese, seasoned fries, slaw and pickles. The UK offer is supported by indulgent beverages such as top-loaded shakes and frozen slushers, reinforcing the brand’s appeal to younger, social-media-engaged consumers.

The expansion follows Dave’s Hot Chicken’s acquisition by Roark Capital, strengthening the group’s backing as it scales internationally. The deal reflects continued investor confidence in globally transferable QSR formats built around simplicity, strong branding and high-energy customer experiences.

As competition intensifies within the UK fried chicken and fast-casual sector, Dave’s Hot Chicken’s rapid rollout highlights the ongoing demand for bold flavours, differentiated concepts and scalable operating models capable of performing across both metropolitan and regional markets.
